California has some of the strictest environmental standards in the country. The region has always been on the cutting edge of progressive thought. Nowhere is this more evident than in the commitment to environmental protection that you find here.
These environmental standards apply to many areas of public life, from waste disposal to construction. In fact, green construction methods are becoming the norm in California's new buildings. Companies are proud to boast of their environmentally friendly edifices. This is true whether a building is for a school, hospital or factory.
Green construction is a way of life for Tower General Contractors. One example of our experience is shown in the pictures below. This was a landmark project that we completed at Occidental College. The project consisted of a hillside parking lot with a special water filtration system. Typical projects of this nature will include a simple clarifier that will capture run-off, filter out large particulates and ultimately discharge the water to the ocean. The system installed by Tower not only removed large solids but in addition we engineered it to filter out hydrocarbons and other contaminants so that the run-off can be returned to the water table. The project was particularly challenging in that the steep hillside required many structural elements, large retaining walls of varying heights and significant grading and landscaping.
